The Roof Comes Off Tonight
THE ROOF COMES OFF is a bit of a different road for me. For some reason, I was thinking California for this one. Some guy has just bought a convertible. And he simply wants to ride on a nice night with the top down to the point he becomes obsessed with doing just that….often. It becomes more important than his destination. He doesn’t care where he goes, or what he does…just as long as The Roof Comes Off.
Musically, I wanted this song to create a carefree feel to align with the happy guy in the convertible. The music is written around the bass line, which is a simple riff I have been dabbling with for oh…..two decades now. I finally found a home for it.
Thanks once again to Jody Boyd on drums, guitars, and his engineering. Thanks to Audie Stanley on bass, and Allen Brown on trumpet. Rich wrote the song and played keyboards, trombone, and all vocal tracks. Recorded at Red Amp Studio in Richmond, Virginia.
